Get Your Compliance AI Before Government Does
Compliance isn’t sexy. No one wakes up excited to polish their SOC 2 docs. No PM dreams of surprise audits. But here's the thing, Regulators are about to start using AI. And not the fun, “look what I made in ChatGPT” kind of AI.

Okay, hear me out.
Compliance isn’t sexy. No one wakes up excited to polish their SOC 2 docs. No PM dreams of surprise audits. But here's the thing, Regulators are about to start using AI. And not the fun, “look what I made in ChatGPT” kind of AI.
I’m talking about compliance sniffing, pattern matching, zero context needed, always on AI. It won’t get tired. It won’t miss details. It won’t need a follow-up meeting.
And when that starts happening?
💥 Boom. That one outdated privacy policy you meant to update last quarter? Flagged. That edge-case flow you think is okay under GDPR? Flagged. That time you said, “Eh, no one’s going to check that”? Flagged.
Humans give you wiggle room. They get busy. They overlook stuff. AI? Doesn’t blink. Don’t forget. Doesn’t forgive.
So if your current plan is, “we’ll deal with compliance when legal asks,” let me gently say: that’s a trap.
I’ve been there. As a product manager, I've had to retrofit compliance into a sprint that was already over budget and two weeks late. As a former founder, I've learned the hard way that “we didn’t know” doesn’t work when regulators show up with logs.
Here’s my take:
Compliance has to shift left. Like, MVP left.
It can’t be some checklist on an internal wiki no one’s touched since 2022. It needs to be part of your product lifecycle just like testing, performance, and security.
Build internal tools. Set up dashboards that alert you before someone else does. Heck, give your team an AI buddy that says, “uhh… that cookie banner’s not gonna cut it in France.”
Because once enforcement gets automated, you don’t get a warning. You get a fine.
So yeah friendly PM reminder: Get your compliance AI in place before the external ones start scanning your product like it’s a final exam.
This isn’t fear mongering. It’s just… calendar-aware optimism.
